Housing the rock bottom poor

So it is, as I had feared. A survey by Mmegi of an unspecified number of houses in the Bosele Ward in Gantsi, which had been handed over last year to the destitute poor, revealed widespread neglect. Houses, which had been donated by the University of Botswana and an unnamed local bank, had ‘fallen into disrepair and dilapidation’.

In one house, the windows were without glass, the toilet and shower were blocked, and the water supply had been cut off because of non-payment. 

 In addition, the cement floor in one room had cracked as the occupier had made a fire on it during the colder nights.
