Bulela- Ditswe is a necessary evil

The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) will over the weekend hold its national council and extra-ordinary congress in Palapye. One of the contentious issues ahead of the gathering is the party’s primary elections known as Bulela Ditswe.

Over the past weekends, the party’s regional congresses have been grappling over whether or not Bulela Ditswe should be held in constituencies where the BDP is incumbent.

While some regions strongly advocate for the democratic process to take its course, on the other hand, there are those who feel the party cannot afford to enter into divisive primaries months before the 2024 General Election.
