SPEDU transforms into private company

SELEBI-PHIKWE: The newly appointed acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Montle Phuthego, says no jobs were lost as Selebi-Phikwe Entreprise Development Unit (SPEDU) transforms into a private and independent company, effective April, 1, 2015.

Phuthego said while some SPEDU employees were permanent and pensionable while others were on fixed contract term with government. She further said some of the employees who were on permanent and pensionable basis have been re-employed while others were transferred to other government departments. 

“Those whose contracts were still running when the transformation effected will continue working for government and for those whose contracts ended will have to leave. Nobody was laid off as a result of SPEDU transformation,” she said.
