South Sudan woos Botswana investors

South Sudan Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment, Garang Diing Akuong has called on Botswana entrepreneurs to seek investment opportunities in his country.

Addressing delegates at a business seminar hosted by Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) recently in Gaborone, Akuong said as a new country, they have created a conducive environment for foreign trade and investment opportunities especially for African businesspeople.

He explained that there is a need for African countries to trade and do business with each other as they have the same history, resources and business models. He said that at the moment there is an influx of Japanese, Indian and Chinese investors in his country especially in the retail sector. But good opportunities still exist in other sectors like mining, agriculture, physical infrastructure, medium to heavy manufacturing industries, social infrastructure.
