The facility at the Phakalane Golf Estate will be a four star, 80-room hotel, which is still under construction. Over 200 guests were invited on Thursday to witness the progress made so far at the hotel site whose groundbreaking ceremony took place on March 12 this year.
The managing director of the Phakalane Estate Lesang Magang said the four-star hotel has design features allowing for an upgrade to a five-star, with hotel room sizes being the largest in Gaborone. "The completed hotel will be an ideal venue for both the business traveller and the burgeoning leisure market to Gaborone." The hotel is located at the Golf Estate. Magang said it encompasses the most exclusive and luxurious real estate with spacious accommodation and conferencing, dining and golfing facilities. He stated that the development of the hotel is an added component of Phakalane Golf's long-term vision to make the estate resort into one of Africa's top 10 places to work, live and play in. "On completion, the 80-room hotel facilities will enhance the reputation of this unique resort in Gaborone. Further, this will also have a ripple effect of increasing the values of the residential market in Phakalane," he said. The hotel is scheduled to be opened in March next year to be fully operational in readiness for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
