Orange launches new Alcatel smartphone

Orange has announced that it has brought one of the most affordable smartphones available to customers across Africa & Middle East, ALCATEL ONETOUCH PIXI 2.

The launch of this device follows a successful launch by Orange of the original ALCATEL ONETOUCH PIXI, which sold nearly 250,000 in six months. Acording to Orange, the smartphone, which has been in stores in Botswana since June 2, 2014, comes as the most affordable phone, which retails just over P600 and comes with data, voice and sms offers. The ALCATEL ONETOUCH PIXI 2, also comes with advanced 3G and 4G Network with feature rich Android Jelly Bean, and allows even more orange customers to access and enjoy the smartphone experience at an affordable cost. Public relations manager of Orange Botswana, Boga Chilinde said: “In the case of Orange Botswana, the introduction of this affordable smartphone, coupled with our aim to increase the roll out of our 3G network to cover 60% of the population, provides even more potential and opportunity to increase the use of broadband amongst households in Botswana, including even the low income households.” 

“The smartphone landscape is rapidly changing, with high quality smartphones becoming increasingly affordable and accessible,” said Yves Maitre, Executive Vice President, Connected Objects and Partnerships at Orange.
