The Okavango Diamond Company (ODC) is expected to have put up 280,000 carats of Debswana production for sale at its first diamond auction yesterday. The government company, which was officially launched last month, held a pilot auction in July, where $20 million worth of diamonds were sold.

The diamonds in yesterday's auction have been available for viewing by potential buyers for the past five weeks.

Deputy Managing Director of ODC Marcus Ter Haar says the results of the auction will be known today (Thursday) when the auction is completed.
