Northern Gateway City plot sales kick-off

FRANCISTOWN: The rush for self-contained urban development neighbourhood plots in Northern Gateway City on the outskirts of Francistown has started in earnest.

In the first phase of the sale that commenced this week, nearly 200 of the 626 plots of 104.1 hectares have been snapped up. The plots in an area measuring 946.5 hectares are owned by Modern Ventures.

Promoters of Northern Gateway City say it will provide integrated, planned and serviced residential areas. It will have coordinated hierarchical commercial clusters, working areas in office and industrial parks, community services, recreational and sporting facilities, hotels and lodges.When completed, the Northern Gateway City is expected to house not less than 25,000 people. The provision of services is expected to cost over P1 billion for the whole land/project. Directors of Northern Gateway City said that the services for phase one are estimated to cost P150 million. The phase is expected to be complete in a year starting from next January.
