Copper miner Sandfire Resources, which owns Motheo Copper Mine in the Gantsi area, is projected to inject more than P38 billion into Botswana’s economy over its initial 10-year life, through taxes and royalties to government.

Directors have revealed that during the 2024 financial year alone, the mine contributed approximately P4 billion through wages, taxes, royalties and payments to local suppliers. Asset President of the Sandfire Resources Motheo Copper Project, Jamie Caratti, highlighted recently that the project represents a long-term partnership model anchored on fiscal contribution and sustainable operations.
