As fuel prices have go down, drinkers are bemoaning liqour prices since the slapping of the 30-percent levy in November.

President Ian Khama initiated the idea of the controversial levy as a way to curb alcohol abuse. Initially, he wanted to impose a 70-percent levy but backed down following appeals from the liquor industry.

Since the levy was imposed, the prices of alcoholic beverages have sky rocketed.
In ordinary bars where the favourite St Louis used to cost P5.00, it sells for P6.50. Nightclub beer prices vary from a minimum of P13.00.
