HR More Than A Cog In The Workforce Machine

The acting minister of Investment, Trade and Industry said his ministry being the cogwheel of diversification, employment creation and wealth needs a proper workforce in which the Human Resource (HR) is key in driving them.

Speaking during the Strategic HR Conference recently, Karabo Gare said about quarter of a century ago, HR departments played little more than a welfare role and it was a ‘tea and sympathy’ department unlike today where the HR function is highly skilled and requires strategic contribution.

“HR shouldn’t be known for employing, recruiting and firing people in a workplace, but rather it is about bringing the best out of the workforce.
