Botswana Tourism Board (BTB) is the 'Best Parastatal To Work For,' it emerged at the inaugural awards sponsored by Deloitte Botswana at Cresta Lodge in Gaborone last Friday. Only six parastatals participated out of the country's 40.

Three parastatals emerged Botswana's best employers in the parastatal sector as rated by their employees.
Explaining the awards concept, the Executive Lead (sic) at Deloitte Consulting Botswana Brian Watts said the survey was based on the Deloitte Best Company To Work For in South Africa that celebrated its 10th anniversary last year. Watts said over the last decade, the survey had grown in size and stature to become the leading survey of its kind in the region, allowing participating companies to benchmark themselves against each other and to set the standard as the best employers in their respective industries. He said they decided to provide this opportunity to organisations in Botswana, beginning with the parastatal sector, with the intention of extending the survey to incorporate the private sector in subsequent cycles of the survey.

"We have done some significant work for parastatals in Botswana for the last five years, and have observed that as a unique group of organisations, they play a critical role in service delivery to Botswana," Watts continued.
