BITC continues to expose Botswana companies to international markets
BITC took along seven companies; Thompson Medical, Botswana Meat Commission (BMC), Flotek, Nortex, DitecMobile, GabzBedding and artist Akanyang Doris Ntshingane to participate at the Fair held last week in Maputo, Mozambique.
The Botswana products promotion mission is part of BITC’s continued efforts to help Botswana companies break through into the international markets; to showcase their products and services. As part of the mission, BITC organises targeted meetings for the companies to meet with prospective buyers, retailers, distributors and possible partners.
Whilst celebrating milestones in inclusivity, with notably P5 billion awarded to vulnerable groups, the report sounds a 'siren' on a dangerous and growing trend: the ballooning use of micro-procurement. That this method, designed for small-scale, efficient purchases, now accounts for a staggering 25% (P8 billion) of total procurement value is not a sign of agility, but a 'red flag'.
