The Botswana Fibre Networks (BoFiNet) has launched a whistleblower/tip off anonymous hotline in an effort to fight corruption, theft, harassment and fraud.

Speaking at the launch, the acting permanent secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Gaolatlhe Dipholo said it was important for companies and Government structures to have effective whistle-blower and tip-off anonymous hotlines as part of their corporate governance so that employees, customers, suppliers and the general public are motivated to report suspected unethical or unlawful conduct.

He further said whistleblowing and tip-off programmes provide a company with the opportunity to address and remedy conduct or activities that the company needs to investigate or rectify and also bring to light issues and unlawful activities that the company is required to report to regulators.
