BITRI targets SME-led technology commercialisation :: Mmegi Online

The Botswana Institute for Technology Research and Innovation (BITRI) is intensifying efforts to move beyond research by accelerating the commercialisation of locally developed technologies, with a renewed focus on licensing innovations to small and medium enterprises (SME), establishing spin-off companies and forging strategic industrial partnerships.

Providing an update during a recent strategic engagement with one of the local authorities, BITRI Acting Director of Research and Partnerships, Lesego Moribame, said the institute's commercialisation agenda is centred on ensuring research translates into economic activity, industrial development, and job creation.

“BITRI was established as a parastatal to develop technology-based solutions that address national priorities. Our mandate goes beyond research; we focus on real-world impact.”
