FRANCISTOWN: A month before completion of its project at Gerald Estate here, the Botswana Housing Corporation (BHC) has unveiled and is already marketing the houses.

The new neighbourhood is to be known as Mophane Estate. Last Friday, BHC Chief Executive Reginald Motswaiso told delegates at a luncheon at the spanking neighbourhood that after a short survey, the name Mophane proved the most agreeable.

Motswaiso said the name was adopted in consideration of the abundance of mophane trees in the area, as well as for its simplicity and neutrality. "I hope that you safely found your way to this place as there are some finishing touches being done on the project," he said. "As you may have seen, the road network is being finalised. The objective of this event is to reveal the estate, though (it is) not yet fully completed, to your good selves and the general public and to also showcase the products to potential takers." The project was commissioned in December 2008 following a groundbreaking ceremony conducted by the Minister for Lands and Housing, Nonofho Molefhi.
