Young entrepreneur plans an all-SADC beauty pageant

A young Motswana entrepreneur, Kesaobaka Ralefala-Ndovie, is set to host the first beauty pageant involving participants from 14 Southern African Development Community (SADC) nations next year.

Eight of the countries have already confirmed their participation. Speaking to Showbiz Ralefala-Ndovie said in Gaborone yesterday that the pageant is meant to promote cultural values and awareness in the region. She said two girls from each country would be picked to compete in the pageant. 

"Hosts for the pageant would also rotated annually until all countries are covered," she said. Ralefala-Ndovie said part of the proceeds from the competition would be used to build houses for the needy and homeless for the host nation.
