Trumpeter Mmusi will be sorely missed, says Boleseng

Afro jazz giant, Lister Boleseng is mourning the death of his trumpeter, Jacob Mmusi who was killed in a car accident in Kanye recently.

Mmusi died after his Nissan van overturned.  He was thrown out of the vehicle. Mmusi, who was also a member of the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) band was buried in Kanye last Saturday.

A grief-stricken Boleseng said the death of the gifted trumpeter was a great loss to the music industry.  Boleseng described Mmusi as a talented artist.  To him, he could even have been the best trumpeter in the country.  "He had exceptional skills.  He was excelling," said Boleseng. He said usually people focus on the main artists, but there are other good members of the band. Boleseng said trumpeters are scarce in the country.  But to him, Mmusi has proved that he had what it takes.  "It is going to be difficult to replace him.  I am really saddened." Boleseng recalled that he started playing with Mmusi in 2007.
