Poor turnout worries Miss Universe Botswana organisers

Miss Universe Botswana (MUB) assistant director, Kopano Seduke, says she is disappointed at the poor turnout of competitors at the ongoing auditions across the country.

So far 29 contestants have participated in the nine auditions even though the aim is to trim them to 24 for the semi-finals to be held on April 30.  Seduke said if the situation does not improve they might be forced to select mediocre competitors to meet the required number.

Over the weekend the MUB crew were in Selebi-Phikwe and Palapye where they auditioned 10 people, an improvement from the previous weekend when they auditioned only two competitors - one from Ghanzi and one from Jwaneng.  "We expect a larger turnout in Francistown and Maun this coming weekend because we have already started advertising," said Seduke.  She said they had been disadvantaged by their last minute promotion schemes, but this has, however, helped them understand the market better.
