Ponka - a pantsula for life

Her slim body and her street smarts make her a true pantsula and it would appear Ponka (Lebang Baipidi) was born to be a disco queen.

But wait until you see this Ramotswa girl on stage and you will be convinced she is a pantsula for life.  Born in Mogonye, a tiny village on the western side of Boatle junction, Ponka grew up listening to disco music for most of her youth as her father was a "popular DJ" at their lands.

"My dad used to be hired by people at their stovels as he was the only one with a music player with large speakers in our area.  He played a lot of disco music by the likes of Peta Teanat even at home and it was almost the only type of music that I was exposed to as a youngster hence my love for it just grew," she said.
