Sheillah Molelekwa was crowned Miss Universe Botswana 2012 on Sunday night, beating 11 other hopefuls to keep the dream of representing Botswana at the global Miss Universe pageant in the Dominican Republic on December 11.

Today the first year student at  Botho College Accounting aged 19, has every reason to be proud after triumphing in the fierce nationwide search for the newest discovery  in the world of pageants.  Molelekwa beat her fellow contestants, second and first Princesses Vuyelwa Mnqgibisa and Katlego Masilo respectively, to clinch the prestigious title. She told Showbiz that it has been her aim to be a world renown beauty queen.  Molelekwa said her aim and plan, as the new reigning queen, is to work with the local media industry to document Botswana lifestyle and culture for the international market.  Molelekwa is no stranger to pageants though, as she has been crowned Miss Nanogang CJSS, Miss St Josephs College and more recently Miss Vision 2016.

Other contestants did not go home empty-handed either, as Barati Gabalebe and Bame Molebatsi, who both made it in the top six, won Miss best Photogenic and Miss Congeniality respectively. Gabalebe was voted through Facebook while the girl with great personality, Molebatsi was selected by fellow contestants. Motamma Sesinyi won best evening gown and best swimwear by Pinkie Dikhutlo. Meanwhile, the night and event could have been better if it were not for the two hour delay; with the contestants finally making it on stage  in floral white mini-dresses as they showed off their dancing skills to the audience and judges.
