Meet award-winning artist, Modisane

Growing up surrounded by artists in his home most certainly has helped make Mogorosi Modisane one of the most formidable artists in the country today. Born 35 years ago, Modisane, who is from Mogampane Ward in the village of Kopong, says that he grew up like any other typical Motswana, herding cattle and doing home chores assigned to males.

"In our homestead, there were many artists and craftspeople who were always busy making items such as wooden chairs and clay pots," he said in an interview with Arts & Culture adding that art has always been running in the family.

The award-wining artist believes that due to the fact that he grew up surrounded by artists fuelled his interest in the visual arts.
