Culture Spears' Ekentolo Vol 3 defies the odds

What can you say when even supergroup, Culture Spears goes two years in a row without releasing a cultural music album, but rather find joy in releasing afro-pop albums, which have been selling like fat cakes ever since?

Culture Spears have not been the only ones in the popular borankana music to shift focus to afro-pop.  The self-styled queen of the sands, Maxy Sedumedi started the trend three years ago with the releases of afro-pop music by the group she founded, Digauta, which released two albums that also did relatively well at a time when the local music industry was suffering in the last two years.  Her latest album has been afro-pop inspired gospel music although it did not do so well, with some calling on her to revert to the genre that catapulted her to stardom.

One thing, however, is sure, the Ekentolo Vol.3, Culture Spears' afro-pop music album, the second after the success of Ekentolo 2 last year, has received an overwhelming following among the local music lovers at a time many cultural music producers and performers are complaining about dwindling sales.
