China Friendship Association hosts Emma

After supporting her trip to the Miss World pageant in Sanya, China, the Chinese community in Botswana on Friday hosted a reception for the first princess, Emma Wareus, at the GICC.

The Chinese community responded in a big way contributing over P50,000 in cash towards Emma's Miss World trip and their efforts were rewarded when the Botswana beauty representative was crowned as one of the most beautiful women in the world  finishing as first princess.  The event was mostly attended by the Chinese community with videos of Emma's triumph at the Miss world playing repeatedly on the night.  The event was co-hosted by the Botswana China Friendship Association, Botswana Chinese Women Association and other sister associations, which helped to mobilise the local Chinese to support the cause.   The executive president for the Botswana China Friendship Association, Miles Nan, says 10 Chinese companies pulled heir resources together to make the Friday night event a success.  He added that Emma is not only Botswana's pride but also an asset to the world and that the homecoming banquet is a great testimony of the BOCFA's and Chinese community's support to the welfare of Botswana and the Miss World first princess.  Gifts from the Botswana China Friendship Association to Emma included a digital camera, a laptop, a suit, art bottle and children's art paintings while another laptop was donated to the Botswana Council of Women, the licence holders of the Miss World.
