Botswana needs arts structure-Kopi

A musical expert, Reggie Kopi, has called upon the Botswana government to establish a national structure that would support and help accelerate growth of the arts sector in the country.

He said structures such as the Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) exist thus a similar body should be established for the arts because both are skill-based activities.  He said that such a structure would in future help produce the Amantle Montshos of the arts.

Kopi said the structure should operate just like the BNSC, which is allocated a grant to run its affairs.  He said the arts, be it drama, music, or visual arts are struggling because of lack of such structures.
