Misunderstood Minds: Searching for Success in School (2002) is being shown today only at 7 pm at the A/V Centre at Maru a Pula School by the Gaborone Film Society.

It is the second of five films on education. Next week's movie is an award winning French film, The Class that swept the Caesars and won the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 2008, and was nominated for an Oscar as the Best Foreign Language Film last year. It will be followed in June on Tuesdays by Bright Star (New Zealand), and An Education (Great Britain), and both of these are also award-winning films.

Misunderstood Minds is an exploration, with five families over three years of their children's "misunderstood minds". It is a fascinating trip into the lives of these children who seem to be lost in school (and sometimes not outside of school) and their learning difficulties. It also shows how confused and agonising their children's problems can be for parents.
