Art lovers treated to Duarte's fascinating paintings

Art lovers were treated to the great works of Izindro Duarte and Mpenja - the artistic signature of the couple artists painting on one canvas; Everett Duarte and Frances Schandera.

The exhibitions showcased African narratives through Duarte's paint and brush. His paintings, which are figurative, depict mostly the San's lifestyle through dance, gathering and hunting. He has a simple reason for making figures come out of his oil on canvas and other media, he loves people. Dance II is his favourite painting.

The oil on canvas painting priced at P4, 500 is his best though they are all his darlings. It showcases San dancing on a red background, which, according to Duarte, expresses excitement; a feeling one gets from listening or looking at the San's expressive movements.
