Youthful Andante Choral Choir of Ramotswa, led by Lekgotla Dingalo were on Saturday crowned the national champion at Westwood, where five finalists from all parts of the country battled for the coveted title as the national finals of the annual Heritage Month festivals got underway.

Last year's winners, Serowe Symphony, who also made it to the finals yet again, were this time outclassed. In poetry Onkgopotse Manele was crowned the best poet after beating seven others, including last year's winner Ngwao Puswa of Ramotswa. For their efforts the winning choral choir bags P25,000 while the winning poet walks away with P10,000.

Westwood's theatre, Mantlwaneng was packed to the rafters.  Not even the chilly weather could deter the multitudes that thronged the entertainment centre for the competitions. Though the show started on a low note, it eventually rose to the expectations of the audience with eight poets battling it out for the top spot.  Though all came with their poetry compositions they all had a common message envisaged around the event.
