He first came onto the music scene with his album Diacha. Now Mogomotsi, who is commonly known by the stage name Skiem, is about to release a seven-track album entitled 'Gonekwa' which he said should be on the market by early next month. The rising Oodi star told Showbiz that "Gonekwa is dedicated to the youth who love to party and also it encourages them to be responsible in their lives. It's about love, entertainment and togetherness." The songs in the seven-track album are; 'Nice Time, Gonekwe (which is the title track), One Love, Sthandwa, Woza Weekend, Monatenate, and Diacha'.
Mogomotsi said he had gone into hibernation because, 'I had no money to produce another album as the first one didn't pay dividends." Though, according to him his first album 'Diacha' did not do well in terms of penetrating the market, he said people were asking him when the next album would be coming out. "It shows that the few people who listened to my first album were impressed and that's why they were asking me when I am coming back. Mogomotsi said he was encouraged to come back by these people, who advised him not to give up because he has talent that he must explore.
"Gilbert Mokombe, a Congolese, helped me financially because he contributed 90 percent of money into my project," said Mogomotsi, adding, "I recorded this album at Studio 69 Productions of Onkagetse Dintweng." He said his mentor is guitarist Kapenda Kutata. He further added that the marketing part will be done by MK Music who are also the distributors. "To market my album I will use commercial radio stations and the video I made on the title track 'Gonekwa'. I don't want it to fail like the first one, which I didn't market fully.
