While many still perceive DJing as a dead-end career, award winning disc jockey Tshepang ‘DJ Izzy’ Motsisi has formalised things by establishing a school of DJing called Next Best DJ Academy.

The Yarona FM radio host and club DJ who is a Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) accredited trainer has already capped more students through Next Best DJ Academy.

“This is an initiative formed to unearth new talent.  I have been DJing for seven years. It’s a way of giving back to the new generation of tomorrow’s DJs, doing things differently and in a formal manner,” said the Bobbing and Dabbing hit maker. DJ Izzy said prior to establishing the academy, he did some research and also benchmarked with international DJing institutions. “We need to do things on a professional level whereby children can be sent by their parents to a schooling environment instead of attending DJing lessons at someone’s backyard,” he said. DJ Izzy is currently in the process of establishing a permanent venue for Next Best DJ Academy, which will be based in Gaborone. “I have been getting the paper work processed”.
