Consultation and Communication are key

Most of the challenges and fracas that have for a long time and will for a long time to come besiege our football are mainly caused by lack of consultation and communication. In any setting, Consultation and Communication are key, especially when dealing with different stakeholders. It therefore follows that in a Premier League that is made up of 16 teams; there should be consultation and communication on most decisions, so as to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings.

With just a few days before the recently launched Clash of the Champions clash between Botswana’s Centre Chiefs and RSA’s Kaiser Chiefs; what has preceded the clash has left a bitter taste in many mouths. There has been a public exchange of words between BDF X1 and the Premier League. Well; if things were made right from the onset there wouldn’t be such. BDF X1 were supposed to play Centre Chiefs in the same weekend that the same Magosi are to play Kaizer Chiefs.

It seems like BDF X1 were not consulted when the Clash of the Champions fixture was confirmed and their encounter with Magosi subsequently postponed. Matebele have come out guns blazing, saying they are not backing off and will be awaiting Magosi come this weekend. The BPL insists that Magosi will be playing Kaizer Chiefs. This has led to a public spat between Matebele and the Premier league office. As things stand, it is unclear as to what is happening.
