Clearly we didn't learn from the Munhumutapa bogus deal

A couple of years ago, a gentleman by the name Oscar Kubara of Munhumutapa fame came out of nowhere and into Botswana football, promising heaven and earth, and talking about money in figures that were unheard off in Botswana football.

Everyone raised their ears as the ‘saviour’ in Kubara had come to save Botswana football. As it turned out, it was just a charade and everything about Kubara and his millions turned out to be bogus and just a pipe dream. It was embarrassing as we had been duped. Kubara was not what he has been telling us, he had sold us a dummy and we fell for it.

A few years later; another ‘Munhumutapa’ type story is emerging.  If there is anyone who really hates the ‘I told you’ story, it’s me. And over the past week I have been inundated with the ‘I told you so’ story so many times that I now hate it even more. This with regards the chaos at Notwane. When Gift Mogapi took over at Notwane amid fanfare, I called for cautious excitement. I asked if the man was really what he said he is and if he would deliver on all the niceties he was promising. For a second; it was too good to be true, and you know what they say about deals that are too good to be true. Be cautious when accepting and getting into those. At the time, I did not doubt Mogapi but I was cautious not to sing his praises before he had delivered.
