Police and BDF patrols need to be reviewed

Having arrived in the New Year makes every individual feel good and a sense of achievement. With new resolutions we forge ahead with that anticipation to achieve great things. In life no one starts a year with no prospects for success.

But 2016 is a year of great fulfilment according to our national vision. When it was spelled out 20 years ago, the vision sounded like The Promised Land. Now that we have arrived, what does our future hold? In my honest opinion, the vision has become something akin to a curse because it seems to have reversed almost all our gains.

Let us not be too quick to apportion blame to the current government and particularly the president. He has actually inherited this from the Masire regime. However, we cannot absolutely let him off the hook because Khama has been at the helm as both vice president and president for a total of 18 years to date. He certainly had ample chances to correct those unachievable portions of the vision.
