The football organ, which administers the FNB Premiership, is facing renewed challenges after two critical meetings failed to reach a logical conclusion. First it was the BFL shareholders meeting which saw disagreements erupt after attempts to pass a motion of no confidence on the Showa led board two weeks ago. The shareholders were reportedly irked, by amongst others, the fact that the league is technically insolvent as it is P3.5million in the red.
Efforts to pass a motion of no confidence on the committee were, at that stage thwarted by the constitution which does not have a clause for such a move. What initially appeared to be a legal loophole that would shield the board instead emboldened clubs, many of which caught observers by surprise when they boycotted the BFL AGM on Saturday. Only five clubs attended the meeting at the UB Hotel and Conference Centre, a telling indication of the growing discontent. However, Showa told MonitorSport that what his board is facing is nothing new. "The Zakhem, Ralebala and Kesitilwe led BFL Boards were also harassed to vacate office without justification and well before their terms.
