Local rising swimming sensation, Melodi Saleshando, has clinched Botswana’s first double medals at the Africa Youth Games which are underway in Luanda, Angola.

The athlete, who is Propellers Swimming Club member, won a silver medal in the women’s 50m butterfly and settled for a bronze medal in the women’s 50m back stroke medal. Saleshando together with her club members who are also in Luanda, being Leruo Bakwena and Tema Modirelabangwe are earmarked for the Summer Youth Olympic Games 2026 to be held in Dakar, Senegal.

She finished in position five in the 100m freestyle, clocking a new Personal Best (PB) of 1:01.10 and another PB of 2:19.98 in the 200m freestyle.
