Road running has proven to be a new trend. The Western Bypass road in Gaborone in particular, has become a track for most road runners every morning and evening.

Over the weekend, the trend continued during the BTC Francistown Marathon activation held at the Fairscape, Fairgrounds. The activation was organised by the Fearless Fitness Club while the other set of the activation was held in Tonota.

Fearless Fitness Club instructor, Kealoboga Kaylo Leruele told Sport Monitor that he was impressed by the attendance of runners at the activation. “This is the fifth activation. We are trying to get people to register for the Francistown Marathon in large numbers. We want to give back to the people of Francistown and today we had around 500 people for the activation which is a good number,” Leruele said. Furthermore, he said despite the marathon, Batswana have taken fitness seriously and probably that is the outcome of the outbreak of COVID-19.
