After weeks of chasing, calculating games in hand, and breathing down BDF XI’s neck, Gaborone United (GU) have finally climbed to the summit of the BH National Women’s League Southern Stream.

The feat came after Red Roses, as the team is known, edged rivals Double Action FC 2–1 in a tense city derby played at GU Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The win moves GU top of the table and tightens their grip on a dramatic title race. In a season defined by constant momentum shifts, GU’s rise feels like the moment everything had been building toward.

For much of the campaign, BDF XI dictated the pace from the top, while Jwaneng Galaxy FC lurked dangerously with explosive goal margins and games in hand. Now, with only a few matches left, the balance has finally tilted.
