FRANCISTOWN: Jwaneng Galaxy coach Morena Ramoreboli blamed luck for his side’s narrow 1-0 loss to visiting Wydad Casablanca on Saturday in a Champions League Group B clash played at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium.

Galaxy had a couple of opportunities to draw level, but luck eluded them. Forward Thabang Sesinyi who scored a hat-trick in the league last weekend also missed a second half penalty.

After the final whistle blew, Ramoreboli addressed the press with a heavy heart. "To be honest, we were the better team on the day. But luck was not on our side. No matter how well you play, if you don't convert your chances, you are bound to get negative results,” he said, his voice tinged with disappointment. He added: “To be honest we were the better team on the day.

I don’t remember them getting an opportunity that could have been a clear goal.” Despite the loss, Ramoreboli refused to dwell on the setback.

"There are always lessons in football," he remarked.

"We take this defeat with grace and humility. It's part of the game." Jwaneng Galaxy now turn their focus to Simba of Tanzania on Saturday in the last round of group stage matches. However, their destiny is no longer in their hands. Wydad now occupy third place in the group standings with six points, equally with Tanzania’s Simba, and bottom placed Galaxy have four points. ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast are in position one with 11 points and have already qualified for the knockout stages. Only two best teams qualify for the knockout stages.

Galaxy will have to win against Simba and hope that other results in their group go their way so that they qualify as the second best placed team. "We will go to Tanzania and play our best match. I think we played one of our best games today," he said. He further said: “We know how many people we have disappointed. It is part of football. We did not lose on our tactics. Our tactics were spot on. We also didn’t’ lose on our physicality or mental strength. I think on the day we lacked luck.” Badr Kadaren scored the only goal of the match on the final minute of the first half.

Khama, Serogola should find each other

Khama’s announcement to take over as Kgosikgolo was met with jubilation by some, but it also exposed deep-seated divisions. The Bogosi Act, which clearly states that a Mothusa Kgosi cannot be removed without the minister’s involvement, serves as a crucial legal safeguard. This law is designed to prevent arbitrary decisions and ensure stability within traditional leadership structures. The tension between Khama and Serogola has been simmering...
