Mares look to youth ahead of COSAFA test

The Mares are casting an eye towards the future with a youthful boost in their 33-member provisional squad for the rescheduled 2025 COSAFA Women’s Championship.

Head coach, Alex Malete, this week unveiled a squad which features several Under-20 standouts alongside experienced campaigners. Placed in a tricky Group B, Botswana will face Zambia, Eswatini, and Zimbabwe in the tournament set for February 18 to March 1 in Polokwane, South Africa.

Originally slated for last September, the championship was postponed due to the CAF Women’s Champions League schedule.
