COSAFA return could unlock more tournaments

The CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA Qualifiers, which got underway yesterday, mark the regional football body’s return to local shores for the first time since 2011. The games have provided the country with an opportunity to showcase its capacity to host international competitions. The tournament runs until August 29 at the GU Stadium, with eight clubs from across the COSAFA region competing for a place at the CAF Women’s Champions League finals to be held later this year.
For Botswana Football Association (BFA) and COSAFA president Tariq Babitseng, hosting the competition is about more than the 10 days of women’s football.
