FRANCISTOWN: Construction of the Makwala Sports Complex has stalled owing to a dispute between the Tutume Sub-District Council and one of the project contractors.

This week the Sub-District Council Secretary, Milton Keitshokile said the source of the dispute is that one of the contractors, Cressiando (Pty) Ltd has submitted a proposal for an increase in the initial budget.

The contractor reportedly feels that the costs of the project have since skyrocketed owing to inflation. Supply challenges because of the Ukraine-Russia war have contributed to a rise in commodity prices since the beginning of the year. “The contractor in question has left the site of the project. We are still assessing his proposal for an increase in money allocated to the project.
