The Botswana Karate Association (BOKA) executive committee led by Mpho Bakwadi faces a motion of no confidence from the association's affiliates.

In a letter signed by three-thirds of the BOKA members, clubs want a Special General Meeting (SGM) to be held on February 8, 2025, where a motion of no confidence will be passed. “The purpose of the SGM is to address serious concerns such as violation of the constitution. The board has failed to appoint the required BOKA commissions as outlined in the constitution. Lack of financial transparency (the committee has not presented audited financial statements for the past two years, raising concerns about financial accountability) and non-compliance with constitutional procedures.

The executive committee has failed to hold meetings as stipulated in the constitution,” the letter reads. The members also accuse the committee of making unlawful appointments, arbitrary termination of members and non-implementation of Annual General Meeting (AGM) resolutions. The affiliates have also written a letter to the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) requesting for BOKA funds to be halted. The clubs informed the commission that they are in the process of removing the executive committee from office through an SGM next month.
