Days after Gaborone dished a sumptuous World Relays competition, Accra has served an unappetising 24th Africa Senior Athletics Championships, which have drawn complaints over food, accommodation and other logistics. The Ghana competition, which has attracted athletes from the continent's 54 nations, began on Tuesday this week and runs until Sunday.

However, the start of the Championships, already missing top athletes, was marred by complaints of poor organisation.

Botswana has sent 25 athletes and seven officials to the competition being held at the University of Ghana Stadium. A team official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told MmegiSport that conditions in the West African country are deplorable.
