The Botswana Football Association (BFA) is expected to make an announcement today on the way forward regarding a rule on the signing of foreign players.

The BFA recently reminded clubs that only foreign players with three national team caps can be signed by local sides. This caused a stir as clubs like Township Rollers had already brought on board three players from South Africa who do not meet the requirement.

BFA CEO, Mfolo Mfolo said the association will issue a media statement on the matter today. Meanwhile, Rollers is confident its South African contingent will be cleared to play despite the rule.

Addressing the media yesterday, Rollers chairperson, Bafana Pheto said the trio of Thabo Rakhale, Tshepo Matete, and Siphamandla Sangweni will be available for the Kaizer Chiefs friendly match next week and all the games throughout the season. "I do not want to dwell much into the issue because it is an issue that is before our football leaders.

But I believe that our football leaders know what is good for our football and what is not good for our football. So my hope is they will rectify, they will take a decision that is beneficial for our football, not the one that is bad for our football," Pheto said.
