Athletes ramp up World Relays’ readiness in Letlhakane camp

The country’s premier track stars are said to be in high form, as they finetune their preparations for next month’s World Athletics Relays 2026 from top class facilities in Letlhakane, officials have said. Thirty-two athletes are in the camp, which is being sponsored as part of a P1 million support package by diamond company, Lucara. The athletes were transported to the camp and are in the company of elite coaches and medical staff, ahead of the global event.

Botswana Athletics Association CEO, Mabua Mabua told Sport Monitor that locating the camp in Letlhakane had helped the athletes focus on their training and abilities for the event.

“The environment they are in provides the best opportunity for them by detaching them from the distractions of Gaborone and other urban areas,” he said.
