The season-long sweats by the women's teams across the country are all in vain as the Botswana Football Association (BFA) has scrapped the CAF Women's Champions League qualifiers tournament. The 2021–2022 women's football league campaign is the first under the Diamond Trading Company Botswana's (DTCB) three-year-long sponsorship worth P2.43 million. This campaign was played in seven of the 16 BFA regions as 66 teams competed at the regional level.

The league season started in February and was to end in the second week of May. This was to allow for this season’s CAF Champions League national playoffs, a tournament that was to be played by the regional league champions. The national playoffs carried a P25,000 winners’ prize cheque, the highest purse in the women’s game. The winners would book a ticket to this year’s CAF Women’s Champions League. The second-place prize was set at P15,000 and the third-placed team was to take home P10,000.
