Botswana has officially delivered the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations finals bid book in Cairo today, the chairperson of the technical bid committee, Ashford Mamelodi has confirmed.

Botswana has embarked on a solo bid after co-partner, Namibia pulled out at the last minute. Instead of following the Namibia route, Botswana officially put forward a solo bid, last month, when nominations closed.

The deadline for the submission of a bid book, which was initially estimated at P65million, was today, and Mamelodi told Mmegi Sport, the document had been delivered in Cairo, the CAF headquarters. "Botswana 2027 (bid) firmly registered at CAF HQ (headquarters)," Mamelodi briefly said. CAF will have to choose from Algeria, Botswana, Egypt and a joint East African bid of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
