The postponed annual Zone VI softball tournament has been rescheduled for Zambia in November. The regional competition failed to take place in May in Botswana because of lack of quorum.

Zone VI softball vice president Marumo Morule of Botswana said they rescheduled the tournament after a meeting in Lusaka, Zambia over the weekend. The meeting was meant to find out problems facing countries that always struggle or fail to participate in the Zone VI competitions. It was also meant to get countries to re-commit themselves to taking part in the competitions. Morule said the Lusaka meeting recommended that countries that fail to take part in the competitions should face sanctions that may include suspension.

He believes suspension is a good idea because it is better to have a few countries that are serious than many that are not. He said only Botswana, Lesotho and South Africa are the regular participants in Zone VI competitions.
