Zebras' chances of advancing to the final round of the 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers took a nosedive when they were held 1-1 by visiting Zambia on Saturday. 10-man Chipolopolo rode their luck to pick up the crucial draw at Molepolole Sport Complex. The Zebras now face an uphill task to advance to the final round of the qualifiers because they must beat Zambia away or force a draw of more than one goal. The two sides meet this weekend at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

On Saturday, a silly blunder by Zebras' captain Mompati Thuma saw the Chipolopolo take the lead in the 78th minute through Festus Mbewe. Mbewe latched on a poor back pass by Thuma to slot home at the far post, sending the sizable crowd of Zambian fans into jubilation. But the joy of the COSAFA Castle Cup champions' only lasted four minutes as want-away BDF XI winger, Lemponye Tshireletso drove home an equaliser from a set piece on the edge of the box.
