The April FIFA/Coca-Cola world rankings have saved the Zebras from taking part in the first round stages of this year’s COSAFA Senior Challenge Cup. Zebras are ranked number 91 in the world and 23rd in Africa.

Zebras join other regional powerhouses; South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique and Zambia in the quarterfinals. Reigining African Nations Championship (CHAN) winners, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have been invited as this year’s guests. Other regional countries will first go through the group stages to try and qualify for the quarterfinals. The eight countries will be divided into two pools and the group winners progress to the quarterfinals.

Countries that will go through the group stages are; Malawi, Angola, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Madagascar, Lesotho, Mauritius and Seychelles.
